The main problem I see with this is that, if it does work, it's going to work very differently on black people. The screen will either be too dark, or the battery will drain twice as fast due to the extra light required.
Not to mention this is super gimmicky and there's absolutely nothing to gain from it.

You get a big screen, without having an actual big screen on your hand.

But... why? You still can't use the hand attached to the wrist with the bracelet. Hell, I prefer typing with both thumbs, so this actually would make things worse.

They have projection keyboards don't they? Same concept here, I would think. But I'm not sure how it projects the image with all of those colors to the same resolution as a smartphone screen. And there's sure to be a lag in the response, unlike what's shown in the video, no?
I could totally dig it, though, if I wanted to bike with Google Maps - just hold up my wrist to see where my next turn is, instead of holding my phone or buying a handlebar holder for it... Or wandering around the house, doing chores or something, being able to control my smartphone, view notifications, etc.

Because sometime it seems more convenient than waving around a big, heavy, breakable phone. And except for the Sony Xperia Z lineup, most phones(including some high end ones), can't really survive a few splashes of water.

I haven't really gotten into smart watches, but it occurs to me, they probably do the things I mentioned...but it sounds like you're not that happy with yours?

I like the idea but it seems a bit cumbersome. Try it yourself: put your arm in front of you and see how weird and awkward the position is, especially if you're in public or walking.
Also, arm hair. All those hairless arms in the video. I ain't shaving my beautiful arms for this bracelet.

Looking at the user's arm in the video, completion may matter for other reasons ... "The map says there should be a structure right here ... oh wait, that's a freckle."

I wouldn't say that, it's just that when you want to be an early adopter towards a product, you expect it to have some flaws. Yes, resolution is so bad that it reminds me of the late 90's, and storage space is tiny and back when I got the watch, the apps for it were quite limited.
Now however, there are a lot more apps, and the SmartWatch 3 comes with a better resolution and 4GB of space and a 1.2Ghz quad CPU and 512MB of RAM and it's waterproof. However, I'm still thinking if I should buy it or not, as it's the first Sony SW that runs Android Wear(like many of it's rivals).
I'm not a big fan of the current Android Wear interface...

Wait, so they still don't have default horizontal home screens on Android, or did these guys just not think far enough ahead to set up the phone they captured the screens from to work right? I mean, the iPad and the 6Plus both do horizontal home screens (I wish the iPad did it as well as the 6 Plus though), and you can set them up to stay that way pretty easily.

I don't know man, I see a whole lotta green screen happening. And way more precision represented than an 8 section "touch" sensor would offer you.

A new frontier in racism! Never before has technology itself been able to discriminate based on skin color! The bigoted possibilities are now endless! Rejoice, holocaust deniers and KKK members everywhere!

Actually, there was a big thing about some face-tracking webcams that couldn't detect black people.
